Description

Every third Saturday in September, the village of Voorthuizen turns into a 'floral' battlefield for parade floats beautifully decorated with dahlias, all made by human hands. Building the parade floats is a strong social phenomenon involving groups of friends and entire village neighborhoods.

Various teams have been working together for a whole year to create a beautiful creation in September. Most groups start from April with the construction of the floats, that consist of steel structures, wood, tempex, PUR and a lot of electronics. The dahlias are applied to the floats during the last 2 days before the flower parade. Young and old work together until the early hours. On Saturday morning the floats go to the center of Voorthuizen and are shown to the general public.
In the afternoon there is a festive parade through the streets of Voorthuizen where many people enjoy the beautiful floats. In the evening the floats become even more special because then the artworks are beautifully lit. Afterwards a party takes place where prizes are awarded. There is a professional jury prize, public prize and lighting prize.
On Sunday the last people still enjoy the stationary floats in the center.

It's not just about the floats. There are also plenty of peripheral activities such as a senior citizen's morning, school competition, children's parade and mosaics for children. In short, a festival for young and old!
