Description

In marionet theater, opera and puppetry come together. Wooden puppets that are moved with threads on arms, legs or other parts of the body perform a classical musical repertoire. The puppets are carved from lime wood in their own workshop. The costumes are made by hand. The Amsterdam Marionet Theater chooses its own artistic course that fits the contemporary public. The traditional knowledge and technique of the puppet play are passed on.

Marionet players, wood carvers, costume makers, set painters, technicians and others create a show.

In Europe, the classic puppet theater in the 18th century. Mozart and Haydn wrote special puppet operas. The puppets were seen as ideal actors. Over time, the puppet theater has spread throughout Europe. The founder of the Amsterdam Marionet Theater learned the trade in Salzburg.
