The Network of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) shows the variety of cultural expressions that communities, groups or individuals themselves recognize as intangible cultural heritage. Description

Maintenance of the guesthouse, the guild customs and habits and the charity and management of the guild's property. On Monday evening, the working evening, the brothers and apprentices gather in the building at Boterstraat in Utrecht. The college of regents meets monthly.

Practitioners and stakeholders are the brothers and apprentices of the St. Eloyen Gasthuis and the College of regents.

The Utrecht blacksmith guild is one of the oldest institutions still existing in the country and dates from the beginning of the fourteenth century. Between 1434 and 1446 the blacksmith guild acquired a building at Boterstraat. It was used as a guesthouse until 1816 where poor and old blacksmiths were cared for. Despite the order to abolish the guilds from 1798, the blacksmith guild managed to survive and registered in 1804 with the predecessor of the Chamber of Commerce under the name Handelsbedrijf der Smeden. As a result, assets of the guild have been preserved and remained in the guesthouse.
