In the methodology, which was developed in the Dutch Open Air Museum, craftsmen, artists/designers and students (MBO and HBO), during a working period of 8 to 12 weeks, jointly investigate the possibilities of craft expertise. The idea behind the Craft Lab is to pass on the knowledge of the techniques and skills that craftsmen have to the next generation, with the ambition that they can use the sustainable and innovative properties of the crafts for future developments.
The Museum Factory , in collaboration with the Dutch Intangible Heritage Knowledge Center, presents the Klompen Making Craft Lab on Friday, March 6, 2020 at 4 p.m.
Clogs have undergone centuries of development, and different regions have therefore produced their own variations and shapes. Different professions also required their own clog variation. These many variations and applications of traditional skills and techniques have been the subject of the Craft Lab Clog Making in the Museum Factory in Enschede.
Participants in this Lab are: Martin Dijkman (clog maker), Marijke Bruggink (shoe designer), Daniël Kosters (clog maker), Thomas van den Bliek (designer) and Willemijn Doornebos (AKI cross-media design student).
